Sorry, the fomatting didn't work in my last post. I must download an editor for firefox rather than relying on manual html tags.

During the association the WTS attended international confrenses on the UN's dime, cited the UN in international court cases, and an airplane to Africa.....
Do you have more info about these things? Some of this is new to me.
So now the WTS is resigned, but still participating in smaller off shoot UN programs on the sly and back to it's bashing of the UN as the Beast of Revelation. Again, can you say more about this? With all this hypocrisy, how can anyone stay in it!?

The UN thing was the beginning of the end for me. There's a letter about it on the UN's website if you want info from the official source.

Welcome, welcome!
I'm also pretty new to this board, also born-in and also finding the lack of friends part of fading very tough. It's nice to find others on here who understand what that's like.

Here's to you!
by purpleplus injw's have been taught that toasting is of pagan origin.
by accident i came across the origins of the custom.
in ancient greece the host would raise his glass after taking the first sip of wine, indicating that the wine is safe to drink, hence the common dedication "to your health" or something like that.

When my hubby was in, he and another witness found out that toasting was only pagan if the drink was spilled during the clashing of the cups. The spilled liquid was the offering to the gods. But as long as nothing spilled it wasn't pagan. So they toasted and drank quite often!!

1 Down 6 MILLION to go!!!
by Tuesday inso it's official my little channel of tough questions for jehovah's witnesses has made someone's little jw switch turn off.
i got a private message today from an active witness who both himself and his wife now say that "i now see that jw's are all about interpretation and not some special understanding".
figures that i'm almost done with the series too lol, i've got one more update to do before my final question that i've come up with for the series.

I watched some of your videos when i was wobbling and beginning to fade. They certainly made me think.
Although the UN thing was what started the whole thing off in my case, seeing YouTube clips helped also.

Hi, I'm new
by Diva inhi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.
my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.
my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.

What happened that made your fade difficult? Any tips for a seamless fade appreciated!

WT Study vs Public editions(the new bait & switch?)
by kzjw ini grabbed one of the public editions of the wt from the wife's car yesterday.
o noticed there was no mention of the fds, god's org or any of the hardline stances found in the study editions.
no verses frorm matt 24, proverbs 4 or any of the other standard verses found inthe kool-aid versions, but a host of others concerning the holy spirit.... so how is the wtbs still so successful at the age old bait & switch?.

The 2 seperate editions is a relatively recent thing. I think they like to refer to it as "the milk" and "the meat" of their words (as opposed to God's word). Family still pass along both copies to me. Its certainly interesting to see the difference between them.

My email from Ray Franz !
by still_in74 inabout a month ago i sent a thank you letter to ray for all he has done to help me.
i did not expect to get a response but to my surprise he did write me back.
certainly much of it is a copied form letter he uses considering all the email he gets, but there were references to my email and he has even encouraged further correspondance.

I wonder if he really knows just how many people he has helped thru his books. Reading "Crisis" was a major turning point for me. What impressed me, similar to what others have said, is how there is no bitterness or resentment coming thru his books. That's one of the things that made the book easy to read. I've just started reading Christian Freedom. Should be a good read!

What were you "done" for?
by Amha·aret injust wondering what the most unusual or flippant reasons are for people being booted from the cong.
i know the org makes out that almost everyone who is ousted is guilty of fornication but they're hardly going to say that people are leaving coz of all the lies, deceit and propoganda they spin!
if your "crime" was apostacy, what exactly happened?

Hi Greensleeves,
I've never been done for anything. Never had a a JC meeting or a reproof much less of DF or DA. I'm trying to keep my nose clean and fade slowly so I don't get shunned by family. Had a "worldly" boyfriend once but no one said much about it.
